The 2nd Annual Slabtown Crawl: Oh, What Fun We Had!

We hope you were able to join us at our 2nd Annual Slabtown Crawl this past Saturday. We had a blast! With 12 local businesses participating, there was lots to explore. Here are just a few of the standout moments for us.

The spread at the Carson
First of all, that charcuterie board? Epic. What an impressive array of cheese and meats provided by
Olympia Provisions and New Seasons. We started our crawl at noon and it was a little dreary out so the cozy fireplace and cheery wall of plants put us in the perfect frame of mind for a fun adventure. We’re thrilled with our new tote bag featuring poster artwork by Kate Blairstone. The caricatures created by Barbara Pikus were a huge hit with Neighbors!

Breakside Brewery
We’re big fans of their IPAs, so decided to make this our first stop. We love this space which manages to be both industrial and welcoming. We headed by the weekend brunch crowd to the bar upstairs and quickly got our complimentary pour. It was so good we decided to order a pint and sit outside since the sun was making a brief appearance. It started to sprinkle just as we were finishing up. This perfect timing was how the whole afternoon went.

G-Love

We saw that G-Love was part of a raffle drawing at the crawl and decided to stop in and see what they’re all about. The bright and airy space was a welcome breath of fresh air on a rainy day. The chef’s counter was already buzzing with fresh vegetables being prepped for dinner and their menu looked amazing. We will definitely be back to try their farm-to-table meals.

Pistils Nursery

It was hopping in here! With a live DJ and a 10% off offer, everyone on the crawl was stopping in to pick up fresh greenery for their home. Especially at this time of year, when it’s getting gray outside and the leaves are falling, at least one new houseplant is a must. The setup here is enchanting with a huge variety of pretty plants to tempt you. We couldn’t resist a small Hoya Obovata for the home office.

Eastside Distilling
One person in our group was working on stocking her home bar, so we decided to check out Eastside Distilling next. We were immediately greeted by Ryan who informed us we were getting the last of the prepared cocktails. It was only 2:40 but they had admittedly been surprised by the number of people. They were thrilled to welcome so many new visitors and greeted everyone warmly. We sat down in the comfy chairs to taste some bourbon and chat with Ryan a bit more. He told us they’d already had 150-200 people. A sure sign the word is getting out and the neighborhood is growing. We were charmed by the colorful label designs here and chose a bottle of the Goose Hollow and headed out once again.

Fullerton Wines
Here we were greeted by Mom who shared the story of how this family winery came into being. Be sure to ask about it when you visit— especially the picture of her son’s tattoo that usually sits in a frame on the bar. It’s definitely entertaining. While we were enjoying our flight, the weather changed for the worst and turned into a true downpour, so we decided to order the cheese plate and wait it out. The cheese plate here is not to be missed. After a while it was time to finish the crawl.

Carioca Bowls

The delicious sample of their signature açaí bowl made our day, guaranteeing Carioca Bowls a spot on everyone's breakfast list. We will be back to try their avocado toast and Brazilian feijoada-inspired vegan dishes.

Mama Bird
One of us was nursing a persistent cold, so we headed here next to try out the bone broth. So glad we did. Super yum. With a hint of ginger and a hearty warmth, Mama’s broth will cure what ails you.

Fleet Feet

We watched several people try the 3D scanner, which inspired us to invest in our feet. I will be back and who knows, I might run the crawl next year. What a great opportunity to get a foot analysis and some expert advice on running shoes.

The Solo Club

The Solo Club has a bright and well decorated space with great windows. We scooted up to the bar at this pretty spot and enjoyed a mini cocktail and a satisfying pastry.

Besaw’s

Located right next door to the Solo Club we were wowed by the Art Deco-inspired ceilings and unique wallpaper. We got a front row seat to watch the mixologist craft unique and colorful drinks. Delicious!

Root Whole Body

Crawlers stopped here for a tour of the lovely wellness space and some fun free protein bites with a side of tea. Very relaxing and nourishing.

Ruby Jewel

We walked in and were distracted by the incredible smell of fresh baked cookies. The caramel apple ice cream sandwich hit the spot.

Good Coffee

This is where we ended the crawl and the latte was such a creamy pick-me-up and beautiful too. The design on top was almost too beautiful to drink.

A big shout out and thank you to all of our partners and everyone who participated! The Slabtown Crawl was a big success and we can’t wait to do it again next year.

Congratulations to our Instagram contest winners, Sonya, Amanda, and Emily. We loved everyone’s posts, but these three really captured the spirit of the event! Thanks to everyone who participated.
