Explore the Bay Area: Independence Day

‘Tis the season for red, white, and blue. With California swinging open its doors, it’s the perfect time to celebrate Independence Day in style.

Explore the Bay Area: Independence Day
Here is how to make some summer memories this Fourth of July in the Bay Area:

Porch of July in Alameda
The City of Alameda is introducing a new tradition called the Porch of July. Celebrate the Fourth of July from home and decorate your yard, porch, or balcony for the holiday. There are even prizes, including Boogie on the Bay: Best live performance by a band, dance, or theatrical group. Participate, or cruise around and take in all the decorations.

Half Moon Bay “Ol’ Fashioned 4th of July” Parade
Starting at noon, this year’s parade is a celebration of community. The parade included floats, marching bands, community service groups, classically cool cars, decorated trikes and bikes, "Pooches on Parade", youth sports teams, dance and theatre troupes, a Color Guard by the American Legion, and local dignitaries and celebrities.

The San Francisco Fireworks Display
The annual fireworks display is always the cherry on top for any fourth of July celebration. Skip setting off your own, and take in the professional show instead. Settle in along the San Francisco waterfront around 9:30 pm for thirty minutes of thrills.

The state strongly recommends that anyone planning to attend the Fourth of July fireworks be fully vaccinated, obtain a negative COVID-19 test prior to attending the event, or wear a face covering.
