Explore the Bay Area: Holiday Markets and Events

‘Tis the season for holiday celebrations! Whether you’re looking for cheerful carolers, a market to pick up gifts for everyone on your list, or a quiet stroll with hot cocoa, there is a little bit of something for everyone this holiday season in the Bay Area.

Check out the list below for where you can get in the spirit around the Peninsula:

Deck the Halls

Christmas in the Park takes over Plaza de Cesar Chavez Park every year in downtown San Jose. The festival has ice skating and hot chocolate, but the real delight is the gigantic Christmas tree with over 20,000 twinkling lights.

Travel through Santa Cruz in style on the vintage Holiday Lights Train, complete with hot spiced cider and musical entertainment. When the train drops you off, hit the boardwalk for ice skating, rides, games, and festive food.

Shop ‘til You Drop

Shop local, handmade gifts from the San Francisco Etsy Team and tenants of Makers Workspace. Browse your way through jewelry, home goods, art, prints, clothing, candles, and more – and don’t worry about your shipping cost.

German Holiday Market – Weihnachtsmarkt
December 8 from 11am – 9pm
Have you always wanted to explore the German holiday markets? Now is your chance. Visit the German International School of Silicon Valley’s German Holiday Market as they recreate the open-air markets found in villages throughout Europe. Enjoy warm mulled wine, sausages, and pretzels.

Not your traditional holiday market, this Christmas Fair takes you back in time. Wander the streets of Victorian London, stop by a pub for some roasted chestnuts, and visit with Santa. Skip your re-watch of A Christmas Carol and visit the fair instead.

Fun for the Whole Family

Want to try your hand at ice skating but worried about your little ones in a crowd? Try the synthetic ice skating rink at the Bay Area Discovery Museum. Not only is the climate-controlled rink set up indoors, but all skaters are given special shoes without blades to glide across the ice.

The holidays are a time for magic and starting new traditions with your loved ones. We hope the events above spark your imagination. Share your holiday happenings with us by following @prometheus_apartments and tagging your photos with #SeasonsOfUs.
