Explore Portland: 4 Only-In-Portland Yoga Classes
Is your flow getting a little stale? Mix it up this autumn with one (or all three!) of these classes. You can go just for a fun time and photo ops or get some serious asanas in. Either way, your mood is sure to be much improved.
Offered from 9-10pm on the night of every full moon, this calming class takes you through a series of Moon Salutations. On nice nights, the class is held on the rooftop. Bundle up and enjoy the view. We even saw a shooting start during the final savasana!
Looking for the perfect experience for your next out of town guest? This is it. The miniature goats are beyond cute and super friendly. They happily climb on backs and bellies during plank or backbend poses. If they’re feeling shy, the handlers will gently coax them up with treats.
Photos are encouraged, as are loner mats for the occasional goat “accident.” Usually held in their Oregon City stables, this class is sometimes offered at wineries. We lucked out and attended one that included a wine tasting. We found the class to be a little too crowded to get a good practice in but the goats, view, and wine more than made up for it.
Otherwise known simply as “Beer Yoga,” this class is offered at different breweries around town on Monday evenings. The cost of class includes one beer which you can sip before, during, or after class. At least half the class usually hangs out for more beers and dinner afterward. It’s a great class to go to with a friend who you want to catch up with over a few drinks but you want to do something a little more interesting than sit at a bar.
What’s your favorite non-traditional local yoga class? We’d love to hear about it!
