Easy DIY Halloween Costumes

When a last-minute Halloween party shows up on your calendar, don’t fret. Do-it-yourself Halloween costumes are always within reach. They require a little creativity, a knowledge of your wardrobe, and your willingness to try – that’s it. Think about your favorite television show, pop icon, or political figure. Next identify the most defining features and try and duplicate those.

Here are three Halloween costumes that would work for most age groups.

Rosie the Riveter – How iconic is Rosie the Riveter! All you need for this costume is a red bandana and a denim or light blue shirt. Pull your hair back into a pony tail or bun and put the bandana on like a headband, roll up your shirt sleeves, and you’re good to go.

Cactus – Find an old sweater in the back of your closet or go thrifting and find one that is inexpensive. Pick up some pipe cleaners at your local craft store. Next, push the ends of the pipe cleaner through to the front of your sweater and twist them at the center to create cactus thorns. Add a flower or colorful ribbon to your hair.

The Brawny Man – Grab any red paid shirt and head to the store to pick up a roll of Brawny paper towels, that’s it, you’ve been transformed into the Brawny Man and you’re ready to help your host clean up after the costume party.

Other easy costume ideas include dressing as a tourist. Just wear any Hawaiian shirt, sunglasses, put your camera around your neck, if you have a fanny pack throw that on too, add a hat and you’re good to go. Princess Leia is a winner too for all those Star Wars fans. All you need is a long white dress and put your hair in two side buns.

Let your imagination run wild and come up with a costume that fits your personality. It’s fun, easy, and inexpensive.
