Call of the Wild: The Carson and Forest Park Conservancy

Forest Park, the gem of Portland’s park system, sprawls out over 5,200 acres. It is one of the largest urban forests in the US and has been a city staple since the 1948. Time.com revered the park as the number one must see in Portland. While the gear has changed over the decades, one thing remains true. Forest Park is the very heart of Portland, and the responsibility of us all.
“We are excited to be partnering with The Carson and look forward to meeting the new Neighbors of this community,” said Renee Myers, Executive Director of FPC. “The Forest Park Conservancy is committed to working with the community to restore and protect our beloved Forest Park. One way we do that is by inviting people to explore and learn about this amazing natural area just 10 minutes from downtown Portland.”
The Carson will be dusting off their boots and digging in to exploration with The Discovery Hikes Program with the Forest Park Conservancy. FPC hosts a hike on many Saturday’s - rain or shine. There is a hike for everyone. Want to channel your inner Ansel Adams? Try your hand at a nature photography hike. Would you like to know where your beer comes from? Join brewers from Hopworks Urban Brewery, PINTS Brewing, and other local Portland breweries to learn about making beer using ethical harvesting of common forest plants. Your friends at The Carson are the proud promoters of 15 Discovery Hikes in 2018 and 2019.
