At Prometheus, giving back isn’t just part of our cultural fabric – it’s also in our blood. Our founder, Sanford Diller, and his wife, Helen Diller, have modeled for us that “it’s never too early, too late or too often to make the world a better place.”
We strive to be good neighbors by helping take care of the communities in which we work and live. That’s why as a company, Prometheus donates a substantial portion of its profits to a non-profit charitable foundation.
Many employees (or “Prometheans,” as we say) and residents (“Neighbors”) are passionate about giving back as well – which is why Prometheus created our POrCH (Promethean Outreach and Community Help) program. Through POrCH, every Promethean receives 8 hours of paid time off annually to lead an event or volunteer at causes they’re passionate about.
Our POrCH event at the Julian Street Inn Shelter in San Jose is one recent example. Working in partnership with the Housing Industry Foundation (HIF), the 30-member team painted, built shelves, gardened, stained benches and planters, broke a sweat, and made memories. Most importantly, new memories will be made by those supported by the shelter. They allowed us into their safe place, and that is not a gesture that anyone took for granted.
Start giving back today
So far this year, Prometheans have logged 464 hours volunteer hours. We encourage our Neighbors and vendor partners to join in the fun, and we’d love for you to join us.
