2017 POrCH Challenge Results Are In!

Every year, we commit to raising support for four local nonprofits through the POrCH (Prometheus Outreach and Community Help) Challenge. We had an ambitious goal to beat last year’s challenge total of $128,625 for our partner charities, and we were energized by the possibility.

This summer, we did even better.

Prometheans, Neighbors, and vendors came together to raise $146,063 in donations. But we didn’t stop there. In addition to our financial contribution, Prometheans also logged over 200 volunteer hours serving hot meals, biking with some enthusiastic kids, and assisting in maintenance requests. It was an incredible year to make an impact.

Take a look at the organizations doing great things in our backyard:

Seattle-based Outdoors For All was grateful to receive a check for $34,886.08. The organization delivers adaptive and therapeutic recreation for children and adults with disabilities, and will be using the funds raised to further develop their summer day camps. Because of the support from POrCH, Outdoors For All is able to fully expand to their Marymoor Park location – just around the corner from The Lakes! With our help, they’ve added almost 100 additional registrations.

Oregon Food Bank in Portland was overwhelmed with our donation of $32,963. The organization collects food from farmers, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, individuals and government sources and distributes to a statewide network. The funds will be used to distribute over 100,000 meals to the community, feeding many to come.

It was a special day at JW House in Santa Clara when we presented our donation in the amount of $37,940.66. The organization provides a warm, comfortable “home away from home” for families facing medical crises, and plenty of tears were shed by volunteers and Prometheans alike as we shared stories, laughter, and love. The impact of the donation will be felt time and time again, as it will cover the full stay of families for 100 nights.

We were honored to donate $40,274 to Loaves and Fishes of San Jose, covering 16,000 hot meals for those in need. The organization is dedicated to fighting hunger and helps feed 200,000 individuals annually. During the check presentation, Prometheans volunteered to serve 18,000 pounds of fresh groceries to 150 families in the Silicon Valley.

Even though the official challenge is over, we will continue to support our non-profit partners throughout the year with our time. Stop by our Front POrCH and learn more about how you can join your Neighbors for other ways to serve your local community.
